The Guardian has since reported a rise in abuse claims against psychotherapists and counsellors. Pressure is now being put on ministers to make regulation a requirement for all counsellors and psychotherapists, to protect individuals from potential harm.
In an excerpt from the article [linked below] 'David Greenwood, a solicitor at Switalskis specialising in therapy abuse, said his firm had seen cases more than double since the pandemic.' Furthermore, 'Emma Crowther, a solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, said therapy abuse was a new area for her firm, with people now “more willing to come forward”.'
