Our team of therapists and Clinical Psychologists are led by Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr Maria Downs. Dr Downs founded M Downs and Associates in 2012, and since then the company has gained a reputation for uncompromising quality in the delivery of therapy, reports, education and assessments.

M Downs and Associates was established in 2012 by Dr Maria Downs, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience. Since then M Downs has earned a reputation for professionalism, efficiency and thoroughness when creating medico-legal reports and using evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help people to live better.

About
Dr Maria Downs
CPsycol., BSc.(Hons), AFBPsS
Dr Maria Downs is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and founder of M Downs and Associates.
Dr Downs gained her BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Sheffield in 1996 and her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from the University of Sheffield in 2002.
She has gained over 20 years’ experience of providing psychological assessments and working therapeutically with individuals and groups with a range of psychological difficulties and diagnoses.

Her area's of work include post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, personality disorders and psychosis. Dr Downs' has worked within primary, secondary and tertiary services of the National Health Service, as well as within the not for profit sector with survivors of torture and organised violence, and for the MOD with military personnel. ​ In her role as a Specialist Psychosocial Support Advisor, for the British Red Cross she works directly with individuals affected by disasters overseas, as well as with their relatives and British Embassy staff.
